- DESCRIPTION
- Orchestral arrangement of the traditional Indonesian lullaby “Nina Bobo”. The work was arranged for Isolde Knaap as a piece for her to conduct the Tualatin Valley Symphony, a community volunteer orchestra that performs in Tualatin Oregon.
Note that the lyrics (shown below) reference a mosquito, so the arrangement uses a Harmon mute on 1st Trumpet to playfully represent that element.
Lyrics, as translated by Innosanto Nagara:
Go to sleep, Nina,
oh, go to sleep Nina.
If you don’t sleep
the mosquito will bite.
Beloved sibling,
my beloved sibling,
sleep, go to sleep,
in the cradle. - INSTRUMENTATION
